Sunday, September 28, 2008
28-Sept-2008
After that, Uncle scolded Snoopy too for not taking his breakfast and didn't give Snoopy any food after that =(. Poor Snoopy to go starving for 1-whole day.
The day was boring... I was not given walk because Uncle said he wanted to rest me for a few days.. I wonder whether it's because he is really concerned about me or purely lazy.. lolx.
K... I think that's all for today.

The clinic's design looks very modern, and ya, saw a pretty little girl... she was a 3-months old Poodle-orange. She seem very excited to see me but I didn't care much about her.. as I'm still perspiring! Still no water supply...nevermind... I rest and wait patiently for my turn.
Suddenly, I saw a ANGMO woman in those weird greeny clothes came out and greet me, seriously, I don't understand what she was trying to say as her slang is so.......slang -_-. K, lost for words - And of all the words that she said, I only under she's calling me Rex -_-. Ya. I doubt Uncle understand what she was saying with his "hum-hum" english standard.....lol
I was carried in by a clinic assistant, have my weight taken and i weight 10-kg, a average size for my breed. they place me onto a table and the Greeny woman starts to touch all over me and moving my back legs... okie, I'll leave the details of the healthcheck to Uncle for update. The whole session is pretty fast, and I didn't realize I had an injection till Uncle told me back home.. hmm... does it mean that I've got a thick skin? lolx. Oh ya, the greeny lady also said I should restraint for doing too much exercise and should come back for a heart X-ray in a relaxed mode, hence, no more walking to clinic ...
WE WALKED ALL THE WAY BACK HOME. Oh Uncle, can't You spare me?! I'm already so tired and You are still trying to exercise me?!?! Oh k fine. Anyway, this time round, he chose a shady route to go, so not pretty much of a hassle. On the way back, there's a Cheena-man whom asked him for road direction and I notice that Uncle speaks like a Cheena too.. lolx.. he got the look, the speech... lolx... I think he better don't lose his any form of identification, or else he will surely be depoted to China lol.
The vaccination starts to take effect, and I'm dizzy and listless for the rest of my day. Not eating much in the evening (Okie, I admit I had 2 shares of breakfast
Okie Kool, gotta go before Uncle wakeup!

Another boring day =(
Don't know why, today i'm very moody... Uncle is getting very strict... everytime I mark my area, he will scold me... not like yesterday le, but luckily, he did not use violence, so no worries k Mummy?... I also realise one thing.. I laugh like Santa.. Wohohohoho... lolx!
Once in a while, he will comes in to pat me and I'm so happy! whenever he comes in, sit on the floor, i'll run towards him and "stick" to him like a superglue! He keep showing me ball... and keep throwing it away, I don't know what is he trying to do or prove! I didn't even bother to pick the ball up... He think what? Don't play punk with me k, Uncle... the water is too deep for You to test... later i bite You then You know..lolx
In the evening, he brought me to walk again... this time.. longer... maybe because the weather is too warm just now in the afternoon, and he cannot take it! haha... weak la! I do not know what he keep bringing me out for walk, but I think my lower body is getting weaker... my left leg since to stop functioning once in a while... maybe he's trying to build my lower muscle back so that I can walk better? hmm... I don't know...
Okie... I overheard him talking to Snoopy about me, he seem to be telling him that I'm going for injection today! And after Uncle went off, Snoopy can't stopped laughing at me... =( Poor Rex

Ear mites
How are the mites transmitted?
Ear mites are extremely contagious. They can be passed from the mother animal to her offspring. Additionally, the mites are easily spread to other pets within the household including cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, ferrets, etc. The mites do not infest humans, but can bite us.
Symptoms and Treatments
Ear mites are not considered to be a zoonotic disease (disease which can be transmitted from animals to humans).
Dogs with Demodectic Mange Have Defective Immune Systems
It is common for dogs to have the Demodex canis mite living on their skin. The tiny cigar-shaped parasite burrows into the skin yet most healthy dogs show no signs of infection. However, in dogs with defective immune systems, the mites can multiply and cause a disease called demodectic mange or demodicosis.
Research suggests that certain breeds of dogs have a genetic predisposition to demodicosis. Transmission of the mite is from the mother to her puppies during nursing in the first 72 hours after birth. Demodicosis is not contagious to other dogs or to people.
There are many expressions of demodicosis and the prognosis for a permanent cure really depends on the type of demodicosis. For example, if your dog has localized demodicosis, it is a mild, self-limiting disease. This kind of demodicosis usually affects dogs 6 ot 9 months of age and clinical signs consist of nothing more than a patch or two of hairlessness with mild itchiness. Ninety per cent of these cases resolve on their own, regardless of whether they are treated or not. The prognosis for full recovery is excellent and recurrence is rare.
On the other hand, there is a generalized second form that results in large amounts of hair loss from all over the body. Dogs that have this form respond moderately well to treatment.
However, if there is a concurrent skin infection, the prognosis is more guarded. With this third type of mange, there is usually pain and itchiness associated with it and patients may exhibit depression, inactivity, appetite loss and irritability.
A fourth type of demodicosis (called pododermatitis) affects the paws only.
Treatment
The recommended treatment for generalized demodicosis is a topical treatment called Amitraz (Mitoban™). If used once weekly, it has been shown to be almost 80 per cent effective. There is also an antiparasitic medication called Ivermectin (Ivomec™)that has been shown to be safe and highly effective against the demodex mite. In order to use it, you must sign a release form authorizing its use on your pet. Since demodicosis is not so much the result of a mite problem as it is an immune-system defect, dogs that have been successfully treated for demodicosis will always be at risk of a relapse. However, there should be no Recurrence unless the patient becomes reinfected with demodex mites.
To note
If your pet scratches excessively or experiences patchy or generalized hair loss, you should consult your veterinarian so that he or she can rule out demodicosis as well as other skin disorders.
